Medalla Real Gran Reserva was created in 1983 in honor of the Marques de Casa Real, Francisco Garca Huidobro, who established Chiles first mint and is one of the ancestors of the family that founded Vina Santa Rita. To commemorate the bicentennial of this event, a special medallion was minted with his silhouette and the symbol of the Royal Spanish Crown. Our Medalla Real Gran Reserva Pinot Noir is from our certified sustainable estate vineyard in Leyda Valley, one of the worlds fines wine regions. Santa Rita Leydas vineyard has a cold Mediterranean climate strongly influenced from the proximity to the Pacific Ocean. The Ocean acts like a buffer providing lower maximum and higher minimums temperatures. The rains are concentrated during the winter and the spring are mild, summer could change from cloudy and mild to sunny and windy. Leyda is a classic cool-climate region particularly suited for terroir-driven Pinot Noir
