Producer Information Rutherford Wine Company is a Californian wine producer situated in the heart of Napa Valley’s wine-growing region. The Rutherford-based estate devotes the majority of its wine portfolio to the AVA’s most widely planted grape variety Cabernet Sauvignon. The Rutherford Ranch winery can trace its history back to 1978 when Ernie and Virginia Van Asperen and Charlie Abela established the Round Hill winery on the same site. The flagship of the Rutherford wine portfolio is the Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon. Sourced from the Abela and Franklin estate vineyards, it spends 18 months barrel-aging in both French and American oak prior to bottling. The remaining Reserve collection includes varietal wines from Petit Verdot, Malbec, Petite Syrah and Chardonnay. The Reserve Ros is a Cabernet Sauvignon-based wine with small portions of Malbec and Merlot, produced via the Saigne method.
