Full, rich and layered. Flavorful finish. Slightly one-dimensional. Producer Information Round Pond is a family-owned Napa Valley wine producer located in Rutherford. It is best known for producing top quality Cabernet Sauvignon and Sauvignon Blanc from its estate vineyards. Round Pond’s property is planted to 144 hectares (357 acres) of vines and includes the Red Barn Ranch, Hills, Round Pond, and MacDonnell Vineyards. The soils at these vineyards are composed of sandy and gravelly clay loam and planted primarily to multiple clones of Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc, and small amounts of white and red Bordeaux blending varieties such as Smillon and Cabernet Franc. The winery produces multiple series of wines the Gravel Series, Proprietary Wines, and Rutherford Wines almost entirely from the estate’s Rutherford vineyards. Round Pond’s flagship duo of Cabernet Sauvignon and Sauvignon Blanc are part of the estate’s Rutherford Wines series and are crafted to express the purity of the estate’s fruit and offer a reflection of Rutherford terroir. The estate was founded in 1983 by Bob MacDonnell and has been managed by his children, Ryan and Miles, since 2003. The inaugural vintage from Round Pond was released in 2002.
